If you or your children or grandchildren have had any connection with Battlefield Park Elementary School over the past 38 years, then you already know Lorenzo Rustin. He has recently retired from there, not just as custodian, but as a favorite employee. “Retired” might be a questionable choice of words: Lorenzo still works part-time for Hanover County as well as for Henrico County, and he is also custodian at another church. In addition, he manages a lawn service business with help from his wife Evette. (Bethlehem’s Presbyterian Women will pleasantly recall getting to know Evette some years back.) And Lorenzo is a house painter when he can squeeze in the time.
You might think that Lorenzo must be a man of “all work, and no play.” Not at all—he goes fishing in saltwater or freshwater, for sport or for the table, but mostly for enjoyment.
Welcome to Bethlehem’s staff, Lorenzo Rustin!
