This phrase is familiar to us from the Gospel of Matthew (28.19-20), in that passage of scripture we call “The Great Commission.” Here, Jesus about to ascend to His Father, and He is telling His disciples what to do until He returns one day. “GO!” He commands them. Go…make disciples, baptize them, and teach them. And ever since, we Christians have been going “into all the world” to evangelize the nations!
So…here we “Go!” There were times when we would go…in becoming a missionary; go…knocking on doors; go…putting flyers in mailboxes; go…through programs on the radio and television. Nowadays, we are “going” via the internet – with emails, webpages, blogs, tweets and Facebook. Through these methods of going, we can reach more people than ever before with the “good news” of what God is doing in our midst. So with our newly revised website we are “going” – reaching out to our neighbors, to everyone outside the four walls of our sanctuary.
With our revised website, we have worked to improve our means of outreach that would take us to a new level interaction. Like our former website, we will have access to church events, the church calendar, and basic information about who we are and where we are located. But unlike our previous website, we will now have direct access to our membership directory, Sunday bulletins, pictures, sermons, and musical clips, along with important church related links, pastor’s blog, prayer requests and praise reports, online giving, and weekly push notifications. This is a more interactive site that will keep you connected to the worship and work of Bethlehem. I hope you will logon and click around the website. You’ll enjoy it. But while this is an improved method for information, communication, and for connecting, it is really more dedicated to our fulfilling “The Great Commission.”
“Therefore” (now that our website is revised), let us “go” – “in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Mt. 28.19).
